Our Program

At little bugs, we follow a theme based curriculum with an emphasis on play. Most of our material for theme discussions are obtained from the "Preschool Themes" books. Evaluations are done according to the CAPS outcomes.

Playtime is focused on exploration, creativity and problem solving. We don't do worksheets! We encourage parents to read this article on a play based curricula

The teacher follows lesson plans and have a circle time where the theme and calendar is discussed. Some theme examples are: Jungle, Me and my body, Pets, Emotions, On the farm, Charity.

A wide range of educational toys are available, to encourage children to learn specific skills in a fun and enjoyable way. The teacher spend one on one time with each child, and ensure that activities are presented in such a way that it is age and developmentally appropriate.

Teaching life skills form part of our program. Teaching children how to do things for themselves helps them to become more independent, which in turn builds their self-confidence. This can be from something as simple as drinking from an open cup to peeling a boiled egg or brushing their own teeth.

We provide a structured gross motor program to assist with the development of physical literacy.

We have an holistic approach and focus on all areas of development through the various themes and activities.
